The celebrated spiritual centre of Rishikesh is situated ad midst calm environment, impressive waterfronts, dense forests and hills. A town of saints, sages and scholars Rishikesh is a large centre located on the bank of river Ganga. It is an ideal base to test the ‘rapids’ of the river, and to set as a base camp for trekking in the nearby Himalayas.

1. White water rafting Rishikesh is the rafting capital of India. River rafting trips run through some of the most beautiful terrains that the Himalayas have to offer. From sandy white beaches, boulder studded rapids, deep gorges and some of the most revered Indian temple towns.

Experience: Brace yourself for the crisp morning air as you inflate your rafts. Zip up your life jackets, snap the helmet on, grab the paddles and get set for the descent. The gush of the rapids and the swirls, the adrenaline pumping through your blood stream is what rafting in Himalayas is all about!
For longer excursions you can choose camping-rafting expeditions.

2. Adventures around the Ganges River On this tour you will have the option to take up Nature Walks, Beach games and Bird Watching. You can trek through mountains and rivers for approx 8 kilometres from camp/base. On reaching there if part of a team you could prepare food for yourselves, have picnics and come back to camp within a set time frame.

3. Meditation and religious lectures Rishikesh is full of innumerable small and big temples. A walk along the road towards the Muni-ki-Reti along the Chandrabhaga River will take your to the famous ‘char dham’ pilgrimage, considered most sacred by Hindus. The temples worth visiting include the Rishikund and the Raghunath temple. You could visit the Ashrams and other spiritual centres in Rishikesh.

Experience: You may spend from two days to six weeks at the temples in Rishikesh. Join groups of devotees for series of lectures, prayers, meditation and yoga at the Parmarth Niketan near Rishikesh. It is an opportunity for people who want to devote time away from business, recreation and picnics and spend all the time in prayer, meditation and helping others.

You can combine one or two of these experiences.
