improve your chances of making it. Our Two
Week work-experience placements are aiming
at giving you that something special to
put in your UCAS form.
During the two weeks you will
visit 3 to 4 best specialist hospitals with
state of the art equipment and facilities.
You will be shadow consultants and have
the opportunity to ask them questions and
observe operations. Additionally you have
the option to visit rural clinics where
mobile doctors treat some of the poorest
communities. You will also see some state
run hospitals where the facilities are low
in cash strapped wards but the standard
of care is high with dedicated doctors doing
their best to ease the pain of the patients.
You will get valuable experience containing
a mixture of hands on and observational
work, getting the view the job from inside.
You should be prepared to
come face to face with some quite stark
medical conditions, which you may not be
allowed to see in the UK. This will be an
opportunity to obtain real clinical experience
with direct patient contact. Placements
will be as realistic to normal working life
as possible. We focus on prospective medical
students and offer a superior service and
work-experience placement specially designed
for students.
Work-Experience
for medical students
Placements in Delhi can be
particularly beneficial to students of medicine
in their electives. You can choose to work
within the private sector and your work
is likely to vary. It may take you into
all departments such as Paediatrics, Obstetrics,
Pathology, Surgery, burns unit, ICU, Physiotherapy,
X-ray, and even the mortuary. The hospitals
that we work with are very busy with so
you will probably be worked very hard in
most areas. You will be expected to add
value where you can and will be allowed
to shadow specialists and ask questions.
The experience in India will
enable you to broaden your medical experience
in a developing country and see the dedication
of the local doctors to make their patients
better despite fewer facilities and equipment.
