Before You Go

Be Health Aware Please visit your GP to find out about the inoculation required for travel and to shadow doctors at work in hospitals. Allow time to get all the boosters required.

Assemble a basic medical kit prior to departure to keep with you in case of need especially when travelling within the country. India is a warm country and it is highly recommended that you consider potential risks from environmental factors like heat, altitude, temperature and insect bites etc.

Safety
Our first priority is to ensure that you are in a completely safe environment while on your work-experience. With this in mind, for all participants under 18 yrs there are house rules with restrictions on where you may go whilst in India. There will be a car with a driver available (at extra charge), for when students want to go out shopping or sight seeing. Students under 18 will not be allowed to go anywhere alone and all participants will be required to let the local manager know where they are and duration of expected time away.
For participants over 18, it is recommended that you keep in touch with your local office that will be mainly responsible for making all local bookings and suggesting travel plans. They will be able to guide you to places worth visiting and those to avoid, however you will have flexibility in case you want to explore.

A sense of humour and adventure You are going to a different culture and although it is exciting it is also different. It wont is what you are used to – it will be new and novel. Sometimes the buses are not on time, the telephone lines go down completely, there are power cuts, even some traditions you may not like. We cannot put it right for you and cannot take responsibility for circumstances out of our control. We would ask you to be prepared for the difference and to work with us.
We are there to make you as comfortable as possible and help you get the most out of your placement.
