and it is highly recommended that you consider

Visas
– We will provide
you information to assist you in obtaining
visas to allow you entry into the country
of your placement. We can assist with getting
you a visa for travel to India. If you choose
to obtain your own visa, ensure you have
the correct visa obtained from the Indian
High Commission in UK
Have
Local Knowledge –
read up on local customs and avoid offending
people or breaking laws, however unwittingly.

Safety –
Our first priority is to ensure that you
are in a completely safe environment while
on your work-experience. With this in mind,
for all participants under 18 yrs there
are house rules with restrictions on where
you may go whilst in India. There will be
a car with a driver available (at extra
charge), for when students want to go out
shopping or sight seeing. Students under
18 will not be allowed to go anywhere alone
and all participants will be required to
let the local manager know where they are
and duration of expected time away.
For participants over 18, it is recommended
that you keep in touch with your local office
that will be mainly responsible for making
all local bookings and suggesting travel
plans. They will be able to guide you to
places worth visiting and those to avoid,
however you will have flexibility in case
you want to explore.
On
Your Arrival
Airport
– a member of our overseas
staff will meet you. You will have names
and mobile telephone numbers sent to you
for the local staff.
The local staffs looks after
you during your stay and liase with our
partner organisations to ensure that your
placement provides maximum benefit to both
you and them. They can also give you help
or advice on your teaching/work responsibilities
and the practical aspects of living abroad.
Their local knowledge is invaluable and
they can direct you to all the most impressive
sights and tourist attractions to visit,
as well as the beauty spots that are off
the beaten track! They will also advise
you on any safety issues specific to places
that you may want to visit during your free
time.

Be
Vigilant – stay aware
of what is going on around you and keep
away from situations that you do not feel
comfortable.
Take
care of your Belongings –
keep an eye on your belongings and lock
valuables away. Be careful when you are
out and about, crowded streets are favourite
places to catch you unawares. Make copies
of your tickets, passport and itenarary
A
sense of humour and adventure –
You are going to a different culture and
although it is exciting it is also different.
It wont is what you are used to –
it will be new and novel. Sometimes the
buses are not on time, the telephone lines
go down completely, there are power cuts,
even some traditions you may not like. We
cannot put it right for you and cannot take
responsibility for circumstances out of
our control. We would ask you to be prepared
for the difference and to work with us.
We are there to make you as comfortable
as possible and help you get the most out
of your placement.
